Our Testing Process

We are pleased to announce that we are accepting clients for Adult ADHD, Autism and ADHD/Autism Combined Testing! If interested in testing, it is essential that you read and understand all of the following information:

  • At this time, we are only able to test individuals who are 18 years old or older.
  • Please do not start this process unless you are able to afford an anticipated cost between $600 and $1500 (or know your insurance benefits for testing already). We do accept most insurances, which does help. Unfortunately, many insurances do not cover all of the testing process, and this is the most common result when we contact your insurance regarding your benefits (which we will check prior to the “Introductory Administrative Conversation”). This is an extensive process that requires a lot of time from highly trained individuals, so we like to try and inform clients what they are getting into before starting the process.
  • You MUST pay your estimated financial obligation up front before attending the first testing appointment.  The ADHD testing process consists of 3 sessions and the Autism testing process consists of 2 sessions. A combined ADHD/Autism  testing process consists of 3 longer sessions.
    • You will meet with a clinician (approximately 1-3 hours) for a Clinical Interview to assess your symptoms, for ADHD testing only you will meet with a psychometrician (approximately 2.5-3 hours) for formal psychological testing (tests measuring your cognitive abilities, attention, reaction time, reading ability, and academic performance), and finally with the initial clinician (approximately 1-3 hours) for a formal feedback session. Only the meeting with the psychometrician will be in person at one of our office location; both other appointments occur through the internet. At the conclusion of the testing process, you will receive a formal testing report documenting your diagnoses and containing recommendations for next steps (which may include recommendations for medications or accommodations if appropriate).

If you are interested in testing, schedule an “Introductory Conversation”  with our Testing Coordinators (a 30-minute video meeting). During this meeting we will review your insurance benefits with you, answer any questions you may have about testing, share our policies and procedures, and help you get scheduled (see link below). Please be ready to provide a picture of your insurance card (front and back), your name and  birthday when booking the “Introductory Conversation”. In this meeting we can get you scheduled with a clinician. Once we have scheduled you for testing, we will follow-up with our electronic information packet, which will include several self-report measures, which MUST be completed 48 hours after scheduling your appointments.

At this time, we are working with a number of insurance providers to accept a range of insurance carriers and plans. Due to billing issues, we are not able to accept CareSource or Medicaid insurance plans for testing at this time. Once we have verified your benefits, we will reach out to inform you of the results prior to your meeting with the Testing Coordinators.

Testing individuals for ADHD and Autism, it is no surprise that many people struggle to complete their paperwork on time. We get it, but to be fair to others waiting to be tested we need to have your paperwork completed in a timely manner. If ALL paperwork in the electronic information packet is not completed at least 1 week after being scheduled, your appointment will be canceled and you will have to reschedule. Additionally, if you do not attend any of the appointments without at least 48 hours notice of cancellation, you will be subjected to the no-show/late cancellation fee.

Lastly, in order to complete the formal psychological testing appointment with the psychometrician (i.e., the 2.5-3 hour appointment) you MUST abstain from cannabis use for one week prior to the appointment and from caffeine on the day of the appointment.

Please feel free to follow-up with any additional questions or concerns by emailing us at testing@resetbuttoncounseling.com.
