What is Individual Therapy?
You and your therapist work one-on-one in an open, non-judgmental environment with individual therapy. In these sessions, we encourage clients to speak openly so we can help them reach their goals. We focus on Gender, Multicultural competence, OCD, Panic Disorder, ADHD, Autism, Depression, and Anxiety. Individual therapy aims to provide a safe and beneficial environment that helps you overcome obstacles hindering your well-being. Therapy sessions can help you feel positive and boost self-esteem, compassion, and daily living.
What can I expect?
In the first individual therapy session, you can expect it to be an introduction between you and your therapist. This session will allow you to determine if you and the therapist are a good fit and want to continue seeing the same person. As an introduction session, you can expect to discuss some of the general problems you are experiencing and what may be contributing to how you feel.
As we advance, you can expect these sessions to be an outlet for your emotions and work with a trained professional to help you manage and conquer some of the things that may be causing you trouble in life. Many people find talking to someone about what they’re going through and putting their emotions into words extremely beneficial. During these sessions, you can expect to learn new skills to help you deal with emotions or other psychological stresses.
How long does treatment last?
Most therapy sessions will last 45-60 minutes, and the frequency of sessions varies between clients. Some clients may wish to have therapy sessions once or twice a week, while others may want to have sessions once every other week or once a month. After your first therapy session, your therapist will likely recommend how often you have a session. This decision can be adjusted between you and your therapist at any time. These recommendations come after considering how much distress these issues may be causing, the severity of your current state of mind, how much these issues affect your everyday life or prohibit you from living life the way you wish, and what you can afford financially.
